Since moving to Gary, we have been trying to decide what we want in a house. We have decided we would rather be able to retire younger than lock ourselves into a house note at this stage of our lives. SOOOOOOO we have decided to add on to our humble little "office building converted to house" and call it home. Here are some picture of the progress we have made thus far.

Here is what the place looked like when we started

Many hours manning the saw and piling brush

after the wood dried, we could burn the piles

We finally got to set the pole in October of 2004

Then the septic system went in a couple of weeks later

as well as the gas and water lines

We stayed in Mack and Patricia's yard for a couple of days before moving the building to its final resting place

We moved the building ourselves

and we had help from the brothers

Finally, the building was in place! December of 2004. We didn't do much in 2005 because I didn't move in until June.

We began 2006 by putting in a much needed driveway in January. Here Trey spreads the rock.

Tommy built me a waterfall and flower beds for our anniversary in March

Memorial day weekend was spent building a deck onto the house

Here Tommy relaxes and enjoys the fruits of his labor

July fourth weekend included the adding of a roof

having the roof made a BIG difference in the temperature of the house. It faces west and gets full sun!

I am sure we will enjoy many days sitting on our new porch

With plans to convert the porch to a den, we decided to go ahead and put in windows

here is a picture of what will be the main entrance to the house.

This flower is one of many that grew in my flower beds this spring and summer

The insects enjoyed having all of the flowers around the waterfall

I enjoyed the flowers, birds and butterflies my waterfall area attracted. Thank you Tommy for a WONDERFUL anniversary present.
